Local Legend
Silas was born and raised in Harpswell, Maine; a place where he and his young family still regularly visit. He spent his high school years at Carrabassett Valley Academy where he grew his love and passion for skiing, which ultimately led him to settle in Mount Washington Valley. He spent his summers growing up learning the realities of work by doing carpentry with his contractor father. After six years skiing and rock climbing in Lake Tahoe, CA, Silas met his wife and moved back to Maine to earn a BS in Geoscience from University of Southern Maine. After realizing that he was not compatible with a desk job, Silas and his wife, Heidi, moved to Conway to start a family and a much more rewarding career in chimney work.
For almost ten years, Silas and his friends, Owen Cassidy and Ian Ferguson, worked at the White Mountain Stove Shop in Madison before all three left to pursue more independent careers in chimney work. Today, Silas works closely with all the stove and chimney outfits in the valley to provide the same high quality service. Although some of the trade names and phone numbers have changed over the years, Silas is likely still going to be the one who shows up when you call!
Silas regularly partners with good friend and ski adventure buddy, Owen Cassidy, owner of Alpine Stove Service, to tackle two-man jobs. He also works extensively with Quddus Snyder, owner of The Chimney Man, to tackle the intimidating world of gas stoves and fireplaces.
