Installation projects are our specialty
For over 12 years, Silas and his team have spent most work days doing installs and have honestly completed over 3,000 new appliance jobs in that time. We work with all the local contractors, can recommend talented masons and tradesmen, and have built a solid reputation in doing so.
Silas has had a hand in all of the installations that are pictured here. Check below for more general information, but the life-cycle of a project usually starts with a free site-visit and ends with a very satisfied costumer. We are happy to consult with home owners, contractors, and business owners to make all your chimney dreams come true.
We would be happy to send you a free estimate and a wealth of ideas as to which stoves and fireplaces might be best. We work closely with the three stove shops in town and will be happy to facilitate the ordering and delivery of your new unit.
How old is your wood stove? 30 years? 45 years?
Replacing your old clunker with a new stove is a relatively simple job. Modern wood stoves are at least twice as efficient as that old Vermont Casting Vigilant sitting in your ski chalet. Tired of bringing in wood?, take the opportunity to upgrade to pellet or gas. Some of our favorite brands:
Harman without a doubt makes the best pellet stove.
Lopi is our favorite gas stove and gas insert. Jotuls are good as well.
Pacific Energy, Jotul, Hearthstone, and Stuv are excellent wood stoves
The best gas fireplaces are made by Fireplace Xtrordinair and Heat’N’Glo
Your home doesn’t have a stove? We can add one
Even if your home doesn't already have a chimney, we've got solutions. While construction of a new masonry chimney will cost at least $20k, a high quality stainless steel chimney is almost a tenth of the price and will last 30+ years of heavy use. Wood stoves need a full height of 6” stainless steel class A chimney. These can up through the home or run up the outside.
Pellet stoves can terminate horizontally on any exterior wall. No need to get above the roof
Gas stoves can also terminate horizontally on an exterior wall.
There are always options, every house is unique, and we would love to come out for a site visit to find the best solutions for you.
Update your old, inefficient open fireplace
Open fireplaces were an extremely popular and romantic choice in the 60's and 70's when a lot of these homes were built. Since then we have come to realize that that they contribute very little to heating demand of a house. They smell and are a constant dirty mess in the main room of then house. Our favorite solution is to install a gas insert, which is designed to fit neatly into the fireplace. They are incredibly simple to operate with the touch of a button, they instantly give the fireplace a modern look, and can seriously crank out some heat with the help of a small fan. Gas inserts have come a long way over the years and modern models have a great look. They are very dependable, and most models do not require electricity to run if the power goes out.
If the existing fireplace is quite large, the proper solution might be a free-standing stove sitting half in and half out. Either way, the new unit is connected to the appropriate type of liner, which runs all the way to the top of the flue and is sealed with a stainless top plate and cap. Free standing stoves can work extremely well in large fireplaces.
Chimney Liners
Chimney safety is just as important as the stove or fireplace. Many chimneys in our area are masonry and they are not as durable as you may think. Rain water, corrosive exhausts, settling, small chimney fires, large chimney fires can all severely compromise the flue tile. During each chimney cleaning or site visit we check to make sure the flue tile and mortar joints are intact. Cracks or holes in the flue will lead to dangerous hot spots and need to be repaired with a stainless liner. Liners are a great product though. They are indestructible, even during a chimney fire. They come with a lifetime manufacturer warranty and absolutely make the chimney twice as safe by adding another airtight thermal break to the equation. As you may have guessed, this flue tile needs liner.
Perhaps a sauna?
Just some chimney inspiration and an opportunity to show off another beautiful job. Silas built this sauna in 2025, and of course installed the stove himself. Good work Silas. You’ve got project ideas, we’ve got solutions and the expertise to make it happen.
